What is a split foundation?
It's two separate foundations, or box springs, that together create a base for a larger mattress. These are the standard for king and cal king size mattresses. They're also available in split queen size as well for those instances when you cannot fit a one-piece queen foundation into your home.

Do I need a boxspring for my mattress?
Yes. Your mattress was designed to be supported by a flat surface, which is what box springs, or foundations, provide. The only time that a box spring, or foundation, is not needed is if you have a platform bed.

What is the difference between a box spring and a foundation?
A box spring is a literal description of the item, it has springs which add support to the mattress to which it is matched. A foundation provides the necessary flat surface that a mattress needs to provide support and comfort.

Do two twin box springs make a king?
No. The two box springs, or foundations, that are required to make up a king are twin xls. The difference is that twin xls are 5" longer than twins which is needed for a standard king size mattress.

What is a low profile box spring, or foundation?
It is a box spring, or foundation, that is four inches shorter than a standard size. A regular box spring measures 9" high, while a low profile measures only 5" tall. This is especially important to the overall bed height considering that some pillow top mattresses measure as tall as 18"!
