In The Press: Fresh Start Women’s Shelter in Roseville Gets Fresh Start

by Gina Joseph for Macomb Daily

“It’s been a joyous week for Fresh Start Ministries, where Gardner White donated, delivered and assembled bunk beds and bed frames for all of the rooms in the church’s new sanctuary for women and children. Now their guests will not only feel safe but comfortable.

‘The donation from Gardner White was everything,’ said Charles Winfield, pastor for the church in Roseville. ‘We did interior work on the house. But the only way this safe house could truly become a home is with furniture in it.’

“As a family-owned company that has been serving Michigan families for 108 years, it’s always been in our DNA to help and give back,” said Rachel Stewart, Gardner White president. “When Karen Mahone, our longtime and beloved Gardner White sales associate at our Shelby Township store and member of Fresh Start Ministries, told me about Pastor Winfield’s vision for the safe house, we immediately committed to furnishing the bedrooms so women in crisis and their children would have a comfortable place to rest and be together. It is Gardner White’s privilege to help.”
