Pet of the Week – Higgens (Adopted!)

Each week, we will be featuring a Pet of the Week from K9 Stray Rescue League in Oxford.

Meet Higgens, a Black Lab.

Just look at those eyes, what a sweetie. Higgens is a 53 pound boy who is estimated to be between the age of 4-7.

He is a sociable guy who just craves affection. He is looking to be someone’s best friend and can’t wait to find his person. Higgens does have more of a serious, mellow demeanor and would do best in a quiet, low key home. He would love nothing more than to be by you, whether it be on the go, or taking a snooze on the couch while you watch TV.

Higgens does need to be in an adult only home though, due to some observed food bowl guarding. It would be great if his adopter would continue to work with him on this. He really is just a super sweet and loving boy, please don’t let this discourage you from meeting him.

He really perks up when other dogs enter the room, he would love to have some doggy friends! If you are interested in Higgens, please fill out an application at and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

If you would like to see Higgens, please email and an appointment can be made to see him.
