Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan
Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan (NLSM) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit human services agency. We have been serving the community for 54 years with dedication to improve the quality of life in severely distressed communities and meet critical human needs. NLSM provides Legal, Education and Housing programs. Educational programming includes: Moot Court, Conflict Resolution, Alcohol and Drug Awareness, Motivational and Professional Development. The Housing program provides: Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, First Time Homebuyer Workshops, and Mortgage Foreclosure assistance. NLSM also offers services to Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence victims. The Elder Law & Advocacy Center (ELAC) provides legal services to senior citizens and caregivers.

WISH LIST: Accounting/fundraising software, new furniture for placed clients, van in good working condition for client transportation, gift cards for food and gas, and new household goods for formerly homeless, placed clients.
Latino Family Services
We meet the needs of the community by providing resources. We have a pantry that feeds families and seniors every week on Wednesday mornings. Our pantry is driven by volunteers from the community. We also have a youth program that helps children as young as five through Middle School, that teaches things like anti-bullying and saying no to drugs. We are located in southwest Detroit. This community it is a very diverse group of families, therefore, our program is named “Multicultural Children of excellence.” Making our community sustainable is our goal. Community unification is our model.

WISH LIST:
– We recently had an accident that totaled our van so a donated van would be wonderful.
– Holiday baskets for our families we have 80 direct service families
– A hi-lo for our pantry – badly need to unload and transport foods.
– Some volunteers to build a garage for our domestic violence families so they have a place to learn trades.
– Gifts for 40 children for Christmas Donated food for our pantry.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Pantry – we unload on Tuesdays and distribute on Wednesdays at 7 AM
