Zaman International

Founded in 1996, Zaman International is a non-profit organization committed to addressing the basic needs and empowerment of marginalized women and children locally and internationally.  Our client families receive dignified, wraparound services at our Hope for Humanity Center in Inkster, MI.  Families can utilize our on-site client-choice food pantry and clothing closet, receive case management services, and enroll in skills training courses in English, sewing and the culinary arts to help break the cycle of poverty.

AREAS SERVED:  Wayne County, Oakland County, Macomb County, Washtenaw County, State of Michigan, Ad Hoc International Projects

AGES SERVED: All ages, focusing on single mothers, children & refugees

– Vegetarian, non-perishable food items
– Personal hygiene items
– Household cleaning products
– Diapers and baby food
– Vacuum cleanersClothing & shoes

Zaman is always looking for volunteers (ongoing, one-time, or groups) in the following areas:
– Hosting a clothing or food drive
– Sorting donations
– Tutoring basic literacy
– Teaching sewing skills
– Preparing meals in our Culinary Arts Training Center
– Delivering food and other essentials to client families
– Assisting in our Client-Choice Food Pantry
– Planning our signature special events
– And more!

AGE OF VOLUNTEERS? Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to serve independently.  Younger children, accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian, are considered on an individual basis.

Turning Point, Inc.

Turning Point’s mission is to provide programs and resources that enable victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives.

Our philosophy is to work toward ending the use of violence as a means of oppressing and controlling others, and endorses the concept of helping people assume power over their lives.

Turning Point serves the community by educating about the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault, and as a voice advocating for the people we serve.

– Paper products: paper towel, toilet paper, Kleenex. 
– Cleaning supplies and dish soap. Large garbage bags. 
– Car & booster seats. 
– Large size diapers and pull ups.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Resale shop always needs help and it requires no special training. Working with clients requires training.

AGE OF VOLUNTEERS: Adults 18 and older
