#Charituesday Contest – COTS vs. Elli’s House

For more than 35 years, COTS has been committed to serving the most vulnerable members of the Detroit community. COTS provides shelter, housing and support to more than 1,200 people annually – 60 percent of whom are children. Our Passport to Self-Sufficiency™ assists families in reaching their housing, economic, health, education and career goals through coaching, mentorship and support as they overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for the next generation and beyond.

Elli’s House





Our organization is a street outreach team and shelter for women involved in sex trafficking, forced prostitution, and addiction in the city of Detroit. We provide food, hygiene and clothes 2-3 times a week on the streets of the east side of Detroit. We are currently renovating a home, near Belle Isle to house six women, for two years, in order to end their addiction, and provide mental health treatment, education and job opportunities. We will also provide all medical treatment.

Ages Served: 11-55

Wish List:
Travel size hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shower gel, soap, toothpaste), toothbrushes, hair brushes, hair ties, new underwear, new socks, food items for lunches. (bags of chips, granola bars, juice boxes, fruit cups with spoons, fruit snacks, water bottles.)

Age of Volunteers: Adults and children 14 and up (children must be accompanied by an adult)
