Gleaners Community Food Bank






Gleaners Community Food Bank provides nearly 89,000 meals every day to hungry children, seniors and others who struggle with hunger through a network of more than 534 partner food pantries, schools, soup kitchen, senior homes and shelters in southeast Michigan. Every $1 provides 3 meals. 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to feeding hungry neighbors.

AREAS SERVED: Wayne County, Oakland County, Macomb County, Livingston County, Monroe County


– Company food and fund drives
– Nonperishable food (e.g. peanut butter, tuna, soup, ravioli, beef stew, baby formula, high-protein items)
– Personal care items (e.g. toothpaste, deodorant, soap)
– Gift certificates
– Volunteers

Gleaners has a variety of volunteer needs, including sorting and packing food, helping at special events, teaching cooking and nutrition classes, and helping with office work. Call 866-GLEANER or visit www.gcfb.org

We ask that volunteers in our warehouse are 10 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent or chaperone. Children volunteering in our Kids Helping Kids program should be 5 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent or chaperone.

The Salvation Army is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving people in need without discrimination. At work in Michigan since 1887, The Salvation Army provides a wide range of services including emergency food assistance, emergency shelter, after-school programming, youth mentoring, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. The Salvation Army uses $.87 of every dollar raised to provide direct services to people in need each and every day of the year.

Monetary donations to support The Salvation Army’s critical social services and programs that help those in need throughout metro Detroit, as well as brand new, unwrapped toys, new coats for adults and children, travel-size hygiene items, and warm socks for adults and children.
