National Wear Red Day®

Don’t leave your house today without something RED! Why? It’s American Heart Month!

Today, February 2, marks 16 years of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association raising awareness about women’s health and their #1 killer.

Why red? It’s the color of our hearts. To show support for the awareness of heart disease, our nation comes together and wears red to bring attention to the cause. Designed to stress the importance of knowing your numbers and understanding what they mean to you. The 5 magic numbers: Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Understanding these numbers can help lower the statistics so we don’t lose a woman every 80 seconds.

Wearing red might seem like such a small thing, but spreading awareness could potentially save lives!
