You’ve seen her on #LivewithLynn, so who is this pop of personality, sales superstar?

LivewithLynn_732x732Lynn Sebastian is a 5’6″ charismatic furniture professional who has been with Gardner-White Furniture for 16 years. Starting as a sales person at our 14 Mile store in Warren, she has worked her way up to Director of Sales Training.  She has worked in almost every department of our company. From sales, she was promoted to Assistant Manager and then Store Manager after 4 months! During her time in sales, Lynn was in President’s Club Elite for 4 years straight! She then helped get our internet sales running and worked on special orders. She moved to the fraud department and processed orders and worked on order fulfillment – all while still working in sales on the weekend. Lynn is now the director of sales training and runs the fraud department. Lynn is such an essential part of our team and has made our company flourish.

Outside of work, Lynn loves spending time with her family. She met her husband, Pat, at Gardner-White! The two hit it off and have been married 13 years, and now have 3 beautiful children.

“My family is super important to me, so I love working for a family-owned company,” Lynn explains. “When you love what you do, it’s not work. I love working with the customers and helping them create a home.”

“I love going to Red Wing games!”

Ashley B. — Customer Service Representative, Canton

Ashley B. has worked as a customer service representative at the Canton location since 2010. Ashley loves working for Gardner-White Furniture because of the family atmosphere and the new “family members” she has gained over the past five years.

“We have many guests that visit our store monthly to make payments, and we get to know each other. It is nice to see familiar faces each month and get to know our customers by name,” says Ashley.

Ashley’s favorite thing at Gardner-White is the Raven Bedroom Set, which she purchased for herself.

“The Raven has a nice color balance; it is unique looking, and durable. The curved legs are something that I have yet to see on another bedroom set,” said Ashley.

Ashley is an Eastern Michigan University alumna and is currently attending Madonna University where she is studying American Sign Language.

“ASL is a wonderful language, and I am extremely excited to be fluent one day,” said Ashley.


“I love to sing and play the piano!”

Randel G. — Salesperson, Warren Store on Groesbeck

Randel G. has worked for Gardner-White Furniture for the past two months as a sales consultant at our Warren store on Groesbeck. Randel enjoys working here because he has a passion for assisting individuals to better their personal lives.

Randel loves any piece of furniture by designer Jonathan Louis.

“I love the selection of fabrics. I have several pieces in my current home and plan to purchase more,” said Randel.

Outside of work, Randel loves to sing and play the piano, which he’s been doing since age three. He even played with the Fort Wayne Orchestra for five years.

“I find the piano a great remedy for stress!” says Randel.

An interesting fact about Randel is he worked on the 105.17 public laws in Washington D.C. and stood before a congressional hearing committee to defend the rights of individuals with special needs.


“I make the best banana bread!”

Chrissy V. — Office Manager, Macomb Store on Hall Rd.

Chrissy V. is the office manager at the Macomb store on Hall Road and has been a part of the Gardner-White Furniture family for the past four years. Chrissy’s favorite parts about working at GW are the family-like relationships she has developed with her co-workers and helping customers.

“Seeing customers come back and knowing that we helped make their home look great is so rewarding!” said Chrissy.

Chrissy’s favorite collection used to be the Riviera but since we no longer carry that collection, the Clarkston is a close second.

Outside of managing the office on Hall Road, Chrissy loves to spend time with her family, friends and shop. Chrissy can speak some German and is from the great state of Texas!


“I like to take my dog Layla for walks and car rides!”

Grant B. — Salesperson, Macomb Store on Hall Rd.

Grant B. has been working in sales at Hall Road for four years. Grant’s favorite part of working at Gardner-White Furniture is the staff that he gets to work with, especially the “BEST office manager in the company, Chrissy V.”

Grant’s favorite collection is the iComfort mattresses.

“I love the iComfort mattresses because I can fall asleep in less than five minutes on that bad boy,” said Grant.

Outside of work, Grant enjoys working on cars, spending time with his loved ones, playing poker and taking his dog for walks and car rides. Grant also just got engaged to the love of his life this past Christmas.

Amanda H. first started working for Gardner-White Furniture as a customer service representative at the Canton location. After gaining important knowledge and skills, Amanda is now the office manager at Brighton, our newest location!

Amanda’s favorite collection is the Resort, which she recently just purchased for herself.

“The colors are perfect for my home, and this set is very sturdy and comfortable,” says Amanda.

When not managing the office at Brighton, Amanda likes to spend time with her fiancé, Erik, and daughter, Abigail, by going to the zoo, aquarium and mall. Amanda graduated from Salem High School in 2010 where she participated in the choir and held a part-time job outside of school.


“My wife and I are celebrating 40 years together this year!”

Gary N. — Store Manager, Canton

Gary N. has been Canton’s store manager for a year where he loves being treated like family. Gary’s favorite collection is the Gypsy because there is a huge selection of fabrics, and it is high quality.

Outside of work, Gary loves to spend time gardening, catching the latest movies in theaters, walking his dogs and enjoying his family’s company. Gary is a grandfather to four beautiful girls and will be celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife this year!


“We turn houses into homes!”

Kim Z. — Service & Delivery, Warehouse

Kim Z. works in the service and delivery department here at Gardner-White Furniture and has been doing so for a little over a year. Kim also helps in service by assisting with product claims from customers and getting their claim submitted.

“My favorite part about working in this position is the feedback that we hear from our customers after we have the furniture in their house,” says Kim, “I enjoy the stories of how we have just turned an empty house into a place they call home.”

Kim’s favorite collection is the children’s Laguna Twin-Over-Full Bunk Bed which she purchased for her kids, ages six and three.

“At any given time their bunk bed might turn into something magical, such as a pirate ship, a castle, or a place for the princess to have her afternoon tea.”


“Overall, I am the Martha Stewart type…but with a sense of humor!”

Andria H. — Salesperson, Brighton

Andria H. started working for Gardner-White back in December as a sales member at the Brighton store. Although new to the company, Andria already loves her awesome co-workers!

Andria’s favorite collection is the Icerink because of the chenille fabric and deep-seated features.

Outside of work, Andria’s activities include spending time with her husband, two demanding kids and an even more demanding miniature schnauzer. Andria is also a home improvement junkie, a gardener, cheesecake baker and BBQ rub developer.

“I used to do stand-up comedy, I am a jokester,” Andria says.

Lenny B. — Sales Associate, 14 Mile Rd. Location

“Remember when buying furniture, the look is the hook but the feel is the deal!”

Lenny B. just celebrated his ten-year anniversary as a Gardner-White Sales Associate this past September. He also achieved President’s Club status in 2010. Lenny loves his job because he gets to see the expressions on his customers’ faces as he helps them make choices that turn their houses into homes. He also enjoys finding his customers the perfect mattress for the best night’s sleep!

Lenny’s favorite items at Gardner-White are the Beautyrest Black and Beautyrest Hybrid mattresses because, “they offer the perfect comfort and have a model for everyone!”

Lenny is a founding father of the Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity at his alma mater, Oakland University, where he still stays active and in touch with his fellow alumni.

Outside of working at Gardner-White, Lenny loves to play as much golf as possible in the warm months. In the winter, Lenny is active in his local hockey “Beer League.”


Theresa J. — Office Manager, Canton Location

“Music is truly a passion of mine!”

Theresa J. is the office manager at our Canton location and has been with the company since 1998. In her 17 years at Gardner-White, she has worked at a variety of our locations including Southfield, Groesbeck, the warehouse, 14 Mile Road and Taylor! Over the years, Theresa has developed lasting relationships with a lot of her co-workers.

Theresa’s favorite collection is the Unique bedroom set that she bought five years ago.

“It still looks great! It is a big seller in the stores and I know why,” said Theresa.

Outside of work, Theresa enjoys attending concerts and adding to her music collection.

“I love a variety of genres including music from other cultures,” says Theresa.

Spending time with her husband, Alieu, is also really important to Theresa. Alieu was born in west Africa and is working diligently to gain U.S citizenship.


Shayna N. — Customer Service Representative, Canton Location

“I enjoy being outdoors!”

Shayna N. has been a customer service representative at the Canton location for almost two years. Shayna says her favorite part about working at GW is the friendly environment.

“I have grown so close to my fellow co-workers that I consider them more of a family! We laugh and joke, but we know when it is time to get back to work,” says Shayna.

Shayna’s favorite collection is the Mandy because customers can special order it in a variety of different colors to fit their needs. Shayna also really likes the Serta iComfort mattresses. She personally owns an iComfort Prodigy mattress and says, “It is the most comfortable mattress that I have ever slept on.”

When she’s not working at Gardner-White, Shayna spends most of her time attending Schoolcraft College. Shayna also loves to play tennis, go hiking and do a little fishing. Occasionally in the summer, she volunteers at the local animal shelter where she and her cousin take the dogs for evening walks.

Melissa G. — Art Director

“I prefer if you called me Mel!”

Melissa G. is our newest employee to the corporate office as Art Director (extraordinaire); she started here at Gardner-White back in November of 2014. Mel’s favorite part of working at Gardner-White are the people.

“I have never worked at a place so full of people that are so welcoming and nice. And so up-to-date on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Mel’s favorite collection is the Aquarium because it always looks so great in the emails she designs.

When Mel isn’t creating wonderful emails at work, she enjoys reading, writing, knitting, baking/selling cupcakes, volunteering at the library and doing all the things expected of her by her cats and dog.

Mel is married to an engineer, which usually results in things around her house becoming overly complicated, and technical. “All the lights, our alarm clock, the sound system and my husband are very technical.”


Larry M. — Director of Information Technology

“I met my wife at Disneyland!”

Larry M. is the director of Information Technology… basically he is the go-to guy for when the Internet breaks and the world collapses. Larry has been a part of the Gardner-White since 2012. Larry’s favorite part about working at Gardner-White are the people.

Larry’s favorite collection is the Laguna because, “my daughter loves it.”

When Larry isn’t saving the company from failing phone lines, spotty wi-fi connections and printer malfunctions, his #1 activity is spending time with his family. Larry also likes to go to Cedar Point, Disneyland & Disney World, travel, go RVing, game and produce video web shows.

A fun fact about Larry is he met his wife at Disneyland, how cute it that? He is also the VP of the Lamphere Bands at his daughter’s high school.


Taylor A. — Advertising Administrator & Photographer

“I have always wanted to go to Texas!”

Taylor A. is the Advertising Administrator & Photographer here at Gardner-White. She started as an Intern in the Advertising Department before Halloween of this past year and has recently started working full-time.

Taylor’s favorite part of working at Gardner-White are the people.

“I work with the most amazing people in the best department. We are always joking around and having a good time while still getting lots of work done,” she says.

Taylor’s favorite pieces of furniture are the Davis Beds. Ever since she photographed them back in November, she has been in love!

“The upholstery is gorgeous, the quality is excellent, and the colors are extremely popular right now,” said Taylor.

Outside of work Taylor enjoys riding her bike, spending time with family, and watching an unhealthy amount of Netflix. Photography is also a hobby of hers.

“Any time the weather is nice, I like to grab my camera and take a nice drive to a scenic place,” Taylor states.

Taylor graduated from Oakland University back in March where she majored in Liberal Studies and minored in Advertising and Studio Art. Taylor has also always wanted to go to Texas.

“I’m not really sure why but ever sine I was young I have always had a dream of traveling to the Lone Star State!”

Rachel E. – Social Media Manager & Webmaster

“My Photoshop skills are so fierce now!”

Rachel E. has been the Social Media Manager & Webmaster here at Gardner-White Furniture since May of 2014. Rachel’s favorite part about working at Gardner-White is “working in the best department in the whole company,” – the Ad Department. Rachel says the Advertising Department team loves to have fun, we get to be creative, and we always have each other’s backs.

Rachel’s favorite collection is a tie between the Lindy and the Nolan. “I really dig that the Lindy is so trendy right now, but I can’t get over the Nolan’s upholstered chairs with the nailhead trim. I am obsessed!” Rachel stated.

Outside of work, Rachel enjoys playing with her dog, Sophie, binge watching Netflix with her husband & shopping non-stop.

Rachel went to Grand Valley State where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Writing. She interned in Hollywood, CA for Entertainment Tonight as well as Fox 2 Detroit in the Sports department. She has interviewed celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, and Matthew Stafford.

Rachel also loves Lady Gaga with a passion and has seen her in concert three times — soon to be four this summer!


 Nicole D. – Customer Service Representative

“I work with awesome people!”

Nicole D. has been a Customer Service Representative for Gardner-White Furniture at the Hall Road location since late September of 2014. Nicole has worked as a Customer Service Rep. for the last five years and enjoys ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all customers. Nicole’s favorite part of working at Gardner-White is the awesome people she has the privilege of working with.

Nicole’s favorite item is the Tempur-Pedic mattress collection, “It is very comfortable and supports every inch of your body, unlike some other mattresses.”

Outside of work, Nicole loves watching movies and relaxing on her very own Tempur-Pedic mattress; she also sells Jamberry Nails.

Nicole graduated from Eisenhower High School in 2009 and went to Macomb Community College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Science.


 Jamie D. – Office Manager

“I love decorating cakes and I am pretty good at it too!”

Jamie D. is the Office Manager at the Taylor store; she has been a part of the Gardner-White Furniture family since 2007. Jamie’s favorite part of working at Gardner-White is knowing every day will be different, there is never a dull moment! “Working for this company is like a big family with a lot of crazy brothers and sisters,” says Jamie.

Jamie’s favorite piece of furniture is the
Cabernet Bed, “it will be mine one day!”

Outside of work, Jamie spends time with her three wonderful kids and her oversized Puggle named Gordo. Currently, Jamie is planning a graduation party for her son who is turning 18 the same month he is graduating!

Jamie went to Cody High School, is a massage therapist, and loves decorating cakes. Jamie is also an animal lover and is looking into buying a mini pig to add to her loving home…also to keep her pug company!

Employee Spotlight: Steve N.

Ever wonder what it’s like to work in the Delivery Department at Gardner-White? We interviewed our Delivery Manager, Steve N., in our Warehouse to give you a little insight on what it’s like to work at Gardner-White.

GW: How many years have you worked at Gardner-White?

SN: I’ve worked at Gardner-White for 15 years.

 

GW: Describe some of your day-to-day duties.

SN: I am in charge of all the delivery teams.  I handle all delivery issues with the stores, customers, and driver/helper teams.  Some of the duties that I perform include scheduling all drive teams to make deliveries, training drivers and helpers how to effectively load their truck and deliver clean product to the customers.  I am also involved in routing of all orders including morning, late, and same day stops. 

 

GW: What is your favorite part about being the Delivery Manager?

SN: The favorite part of my job is dealing with all the different personalities throughout the day and the challenges that it brings.

 

GW: What is your favorite part about the company?

SN: The opportunity that they have provided me to continue to advance and move up throughout the years.

 

GW: What qualities should someone possess to do your job effectively?

SN: The qualities someone needs to do my job include patience, discipline, and a vast knowledge of how to deliver furniture. They must also be a good leader.

 

GW: What’s your favorite item at Gardner-White?

SN: The Hamlin Buff living room set.

 

GW: Do you have any advice for future employees in your position?

SN: Remember that you will be dealing with a lot of different personalities, you must learn how to handle certain people in certain ways.

 

GW: What’s your favorite part about living in Detroit?

SN: Going downtown to sporting events.. especially opening day for the Tigers.

 

GW: What teams are you rooting for this year?

SN: Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Michigan Wolverines.

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a salesperson at Gardner-White? We interviewed one of our favorite salespeople, David W., at our Auburn Hills store to give you a little insight on what it’s like to sell furniture at Gardner-White.

GW: How many years have you worked at Gardner-White?

DW: I’ve worked at Gardner-White for 2 years.

 

GW: Describe some of your day-to-day duties.

DW: I sell all different kinds of furniture and mattresses – that includes interacting with the customers through the entire sale process. I find out what the customers are looking for, what their budget is and if they need financing. I also schedule delivery times, and coordinate special orders.

GW: What is your favorite part about being a salesperson?

DW: I love working with our awesome customers!

 

GW: What is your favorite part about the company?

DW: I really like my management team, especially Tim Mayo.

 

GW: What qualities should someone possess to be a great salesperson?

DW: A great attitude is always a wonderful asset! Oh, and don’t forget to smile a lot!

 

GW: What’s your favorite item to sell?

DW: Anything TEMPUR-Pedic. There are so many varieties of mattresses and bases to choose from. I’ve never had a customer that didn’t absolutely love their TEMPUR-Pedic purchase. It’s a really great quality brand!

 

GW: Do you have any advice for future employees in your position?

DW: If you come into work prepared to work hard and you have a great attitude, you will be successful.

 

GW: What’s your favorite part about living in Detroit?

DW: Detroit is such an amazing city. It’s so diverse and there are a ton of things to do downtown – Lions games, Tigers games or going to the casino is always fun.

 

GW: What teams are you rooting for this year?

DW: The Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions, of course!
