Detroit Firemen’s Benevolent Fund

The Detroit Firemen’s Benevolent Fund is a 503c(3) non-profit organization. The Fund has served firefighters and our community for over 149 years. Our membership is made up of active duty and retired Detroit Firefighters. We were originally organized in 1866 to aid injured Detroit firefighters, and widows and children of deceased firemen. Throughout the years we have expanded our scope to include our community and our region. Our sponsored groups rely on the Fund for assistance in a variety of areas. From financial help to copying flyers and distributing information about the groups’ events, the Firemen’s Fund is there to help them do what they do best.

Need volunteers for working at our fundraising events – Field Day, Chili Cook Off & other events that come up during the year.

Community Sharing

We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, overseen by a Board of (Volunteer) Directors and operated by nearly 200 volunteers. Additional community members generously donate their professional services to supply accounting, legal, and marketing related activities. Because we operate primarily through volunteers, ninety cents of every donated dollar can be spent to assist the over 720 men, women and children we service each month.*

Our community’s sharing of their time, energy and finances allows us to provide a broad range of services to financially distressed families. There isn’t a month that goes by that someone in the Highland or Milford area doesn’t offer some form of charitable endeavor… a coat & boot drive, pajamas for kids, a canned food drive and more.

Community Sharing is surrounded and held by a loving community.

Volunteer Opportunities include pantry volunteers, tutors, porters, shelf stockers, food pick-up, etc.

Community Living Centers, Inc. are dedicated to helping developmentally disabled individuals live life to its fullest. They manage residential group homes, independent living apartments, offer respite care and assistance for individuals living with their families.

Yard work volunteers are in great need for spring and fall clean-ups (one day per Community Living Center home). Homes need yard work during the summer as well. A volunteer group could “adopt” a home, get to know the residents, plan crafts or activities with them, and help with the yard maintenance. When large mailings are done, office help is needed for one to two days at a time. Home maintenance, including painting, is also greatly needed. You can find them and learn about the great work they do on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
