Military veteran wins Gardner-White prize at Stars & Stripes Festival

Once again Gardner-White has partnered with Funfest Productions, Inc. to name a local veteran and his family the Military Family of the Year. On Friday, June 26th, 2015 people gathered at Freedom Hill County Park during the Stars and Stripes Festival to give appreciation to this years winner, the Nielsen family.

Veteran Army Cpl. J. Nielsen served two tours overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was very surprised to have been chosen as the Military Family of the Year. He was proud to accept the $2,500 Gardner-White gift certificate and the $1,000 cash. He plans on using it towards their new house. Gardner-White would like to thank the J. Nielsen for his service and congratulate the Nielson family on winning the Military Family of the Year!

The military family donation began the first year of the Stars & Stripes Festival, and has been a tradition ever since. It consists of $1,000 from Funfest Productions, Inc. and $2,500 of furniture from Gardner-White Furniture. It is an honor for Gardner-White to team up with Funfest Productions, Inc. to make a contribution to a local military family and recognize the service they have dedicated to our country.

These assemblies are provided to schools in Macomb County free of charge and an average of 1,500 students hear this message of empowerment and hope every month. Support for these assemblies is generated through the funds raised at the outreach and awareness events which are held in our community throughout the year.
