UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 8, 2012 –NBC has given the green light to “Get Out Alive” (working title), a new,
larger-than-life and extreme adventure reality-competition series headlined by world-renowned adventurer Bear Grylls,
to be co-produced by Bear Grylls Ventures and Ben Silvermanʼs multimedia studio, Electus.
The move to NBC for “Get Out Alive” marks the first time the international television star will debut on network television.
The show will test teams of two beyond their most extreme imaginations in the wild. NBC has ordered eight episodes of
the series, with additional creative details to be revealed at a later date. “Get Out Alive” is set to air in primetime in
Summer 2013.

“To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC
Entertainment. “He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to
push themselves beyond their limits. These contestants are in for the ride of their lives!”

“ʻGet Out Aliveʼ will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just
save your life,” said Grylls. “The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that
brings incredible reward… but first there must be some pain.”
“Bear is the most exciting talent in the world of survival adventure today — there is simply no one like him,” said Chris
Grant, CEO of Electus. “To be able to partner with Bear and the rest of his team is a dream come true. I believe that the
synergies between our two companies are limitless and we are very excited to make programming with Bear for NBC.”
Gryllsʼ passion for the outdoors was forged during his childhood in the U.K on the Isle of Wight where his late father
taught him to climb and sail. Trained from a young age in martial arts, Grylls went on to spend three years as a soldier in
the British Special Forces, serving with 21 SAS. Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa where he broke his
back in three places, Grylls went on to become one of the youngest climbers ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Today, Grylls is perhaps best known for his international TV series “Man vs. Wild” (known as “Born Survivor” in the
U.K.), which has achieved a global audience of over 1.2 billion followers and author of his #1 best-selling book “Mud,
Sweat and Tears.”

Toys For Tots Boxes at Our Stores!

At Gardner-White Furniture, we want our community to enjoy and celebrate the holiday season in full, not in part. With all of the giving that the holidays suggest that we do, we take pride in hosting the opportunity for our friends, fans, family and customers to help out those who have less. That’s why we find it important to take part in the annual Toys for Tots toy drive, so that all can have the opportunity to not only receive this holiday season, but for us to give as well.

At all of our stores, you will find a Toys for Tots donation bin, and we encourage you, your friends, and your family to take part in one of the most rewarding opportunities the season brings us.

From the Toys for Tots website:

MISSION:
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

GOAL:
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

ACTIVITIES:
The principal Toys for Tots activity which takes place each year is the collection and distribution of toys in the communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located.  In communities without a Reserve Unit, the campaign can be conducted by a Marine Corps League Detachment or group of men and women, generally veteran Marines, authorized by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to conduct a local Toys for Tots campaign.  Local Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and concurrently generate toys and monetary donations.

Creating the Perfect Holiday Table

Creating the perfect holiday table centerpieces can be as important as cooking the turkey itself. You can make your guests feel special by providing a delicious feast and a festive table, but decorating doesn’t have to be difficult.

How do you come up with the perfect holiday table decorations?

Deciding on this year’s settings can be as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Step 1: Decide on your color scheme. Within the fall months, many people turn to brown, gold and orange. Why not branch out? Try something new like teal or purple…heck, you might even have linens in these alternative colors already.

Step 2: Determine the number of place settings and plan space accordingly. Set your table with plates and serving dishes, then determine how much room can be dedicated to décor. Having enough room to eat can result in a continued conversation and more enjoyable holiday family meal.

Step 3: Pick your centerpiece. The focal point should be in the center of the table and can include pumpkins, candles or perhaps a glass vessel. Live flowers and decorative ornaments can even be sent home with guests as party favors (and make clean-up a breeze!).
